BLUE DAKOTA. Fortunately Lee has stepped in to entertain us following the demise of Bob Croucher (Stone & Street) one of the nicest men in showbiz.
I have scheduled FIREWORKS for 11.00pm so younger people will have the opportunity to watch from home or with their parents top end of KNOLLMEAD.

Hello Everybody

Lin and I trust you are keeping well and in good spirits & looking forward to getting back to the Sunray, meeting up & dancing again. It has not been an easy year, harder for some than others but with the UK vaccine rollout advancing at a world beating pace the future is bright.

We intend starting line dance classes from Tuesday 18th May followed by Thursday AM & PM as in the past. Please do Text 07 885 543 886 to confirm you will return or advise otherwise so we can release your place to others.

MONTHLY SOCIALS

We anticipate that we will need to limit numbers to allow for safe spacing and to follow Covid – 19 Rules in place at the time.

Surviving The Lockdown

First off I would like to say a massive thank you to all of you who have made a

financial contribution to help The Sunray survive the coronavirus lockdown. Whether your contribution was  £10.00 or £200.00 it has enabled us to hold our lease and pay bills. Even when closed with no foot fall at the club there are

always ongoing costs that have to be paid. Your contributions  have shown just how much you value the Club and the friendships and partnerships made over the years. As for the future I feel I can confidently say that the Club is

financially secure for the foreseeable future. As a small business rate payer I

applied for the Governments Small Business Grant

which was

approved and the sum of £10,000.00 has now been paid directly into our bank account.  SPONSORSHIP. I am also pleased to tell you that

Sarah Melbourn, owner of GREENFIELD

has offered sponsorship to the Club and donated £1000.00 X 2 to our account. Sarah is related to Sunray Club Members Christine & Malcolm Brown .

MAINTENANCE OPPORTUNITY

The cash injection we have received gives us the opportunity to continue with some refurbishment previously planned. Work booked and ordered has been able to go ahead, subject to supply of materials. Of the work planned the two new Fire Doors are waiting for the factory to open before we can collect them. Fortunately we do have a new Security Shutter installed on the back. The Ladies Loo has had two new wash hand basins and a new toilets fitted in both Ladies & Gents. Mains water has been diverted directly to the cisterns to allow a quicker refill. Important when they are busy. The entrance lobby has had a lick of paint and new wider entrance doors fitted. Next job is new floor covering. New brighter overhead Solar Lighting, designed for car parks, have been fitted.

WHEN WILL IT ALL END!  Your guess is as good as mine but before it does there is a lot of clearing out to done where items have accumulated over the past twenty years, and before we go back I will order a professional deep clean of ALL AREAS.

BAR AREA. Today I ordered a full stock of new  BAR GLASSES.

EASTBOURNE WEEKEND 
The Cumberland Hotel remains closed and will not open at best before mid Juneat best
All monies held are in a separate secure account, ring fenced until decisions can be made about the future. I personally think we will not be back before 26th September. It may be possible for smaller groups to come together before then, but we will have to wait for Government to advise when. I am hopeful.

To all Sunray Club Members, Hotshots & Sundowners Linedancers.

Following on from our unfortunate cancellation of our Annual Linedance Weekend to the Trouville Hotel, Isle of Wight I am pleased to tell you that I have now received the refund from The Holiday Shop.
Refunds will be cost less £10 expenses.

With a late cancellation like this it was only right that the acts were paid in full.

I am sure we all wish Darren Jones & Carl Shay success with whatever steps they take next. The entertainment industry has been devastated by COVID-19

I would like to thank Marc of Holiday Shop for his prompt attention refunding to us and all of you for your patience and understanding.

With no forthcoming classes and being in Isolation I will liaise with Janice & Pat on how they wish to handle refunds to their dancers.

ON GOING COSTS

Even with The Club closed there are of course ongoing costs & expenses. There are those I can’t cancel such as BT (phone line) and ADT (alarm) including CCTV which work together and of course our Insurance premium.

We will weather this storm.

Some of you have become rather insistent on paying towards the above costs and I have to say your support has been quite overwhelming and is truly appreciated.

I do know how much some of you have benefitted from The Club both socially, dance wise and making new friends and want it to continue when the time is right, so do I, so I do understand your desire to help. Some of you have already ask me not to return your holiday cost and put it towards funds. It is times like this when you realise the value of a Club like ours. I am hugely proud and honoured you all feel that way. Thank You.
